How Does COVID-19 Spread?
- According to the CDC, the virus is thought to be spread mainly from person-to-person. This means it may spread between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet), or through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. COVID-19 may be spread by people who are not showing symptoms.
- Â
- The CDC also reports that it may be possible for someone to get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object with the virus on it, and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.
- Â
- The best way to prevent illness from COVID-19 is to avoid being exposed to the virus, as there is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19.

Use Healthy Practices to Protect Yourself
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after being in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
- Â
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick, and practice social distancing by keeping at least 6 feet away from others if you must go out in public.
- Â
- Wear a cloth face covering to cover your mouth and nose when around others and when you must go out in public. The cloth face cover is meant to protect other people in case you are infected. Don’t place one on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance. Learn more.
- Â
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing and throw the tissue away after use. If a tissue isn’t available, cough or sneeze into your elbow or sleeve, not your hands.
- Â
- Â
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, handles, desks, computers, phones, keyboards, sinks, toilets, faucets and countertops. Read full CDC information.

Promise Medical Centre Safe Care Commitment
The health and safety of our patients, families and staff is our top priority. As we welcome more patients back to our hospital and outpatient facilities, we are taking a comprehensive approach to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. We know that COVID-19 will be with us for the foreseeable future, so we’ve implemented the following measures to provide the safest possible environment.
WE PROTECT EVERYONE IN OUR ENVIRONMENT
We require all people — employees, patients, and visitors — at our facilities to wear a mask. We have rearranged spaces to accommodate physical distancing and prevent transmission of infections by removing chairs from waiting rooms, and in some high-use areas, installing plexiglass barriers. We limit visitors coming into our hospitals and physicians’ offices. We wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines when providing care in the home.
WE CLEAN OUR HANDS AND SPACES AND MAKE IT EASY FOR YOU TO DO THE SAME
We have increased the frequency and intensity of cleaning of all high touch areas throughout our institutions. We require frequent hand-cleaning and have added hand sanitizer stations so patients and staff can clean their hands easily and frequently. We follow special infection prevention guidelines for care provided in the home to protect our patients and our staff.
WE PUT MEASURES IN PLACE TO PROTECT YOU, YOUR FAMILIES, AND OUR STAFF
We ensure all employees are devoid of symptoms. Anyone with symptoms of a possible respiratory illness is not allowed to work until they are better. We make sure any visitor with symptoms is restricted from entering our hospitals or physicians’ offices. We use personal protective equipment (PPE) recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. we adhere to best practice safety protocols in those settings when providing care to our patients on admission and for significant others when they visit. We also make sure that social distancing is maintained at all times
